As I write this, it is 2 hours and 21 minutes into AD 2005.

New Year's Eve was not such a big deal for me, in my opinion. It was just the same old slacking. But it was not the same. I had suddenly started missing my friends so much, that I felt such a big pang of loss, that I went into a frenzy of messaging to my friends, something I had written. It goes like this:

"2005, a new year for us all. As i type this, an unfamiliar year will come, and we will be facing new challenges. In the process, we will be leaving behind a year of trials and tribulations, but also of memories of our time together. And so, before 2005 comes, this will be my last chance of the year, to show my apprecation of you as my friend. It has been a good year with you by my side, and we have had many good times together. Therefore, give me your hand, as we go hand in hand together, into the challenges of the next phase of our lives. Happy new year, my cherished friend."

2004 was another year. And with its passing, came another phase of my life. Soon, I will be facing challenges I have yet to know, as will many others I know and love as my friends. New Year's with family has since lost its meaning to me, but how I wished I could have spent it with those friends I cherish.

Anyway, as I'm getting done with this, it's 2.40 AM, Jan 1, 2005. I wish everyone a Happy New Year. Have fun with the next phase of your life.

Well. I had been bored these few days, so it was quite a good thing that Amanda actually asked me to go out with her today.

Yup. It's weird. I mean, I barely knew her for a week or so, and she's already cool with taking me around Singapore. That's not a girl you meet everyday. Anyway......it was a pretty chill day, we were just walking around Singapore, getting to know each other, before playing a round of pool at night with her friends.

So well, yeah. Not much, but for someone as cooped up as I am, it was a welcome relief.

Xmas sucked for me, as usual.

Family gathering. Bleh.

Nothing much to do. Bleh.

No presents as usual. Bleh.

Crap. I'm being too bitter here.

Yup. When you've taken as many quizzes as I did in such a short span of time, it can only mean one thing.

I'm lonely, I'm bored out of my wits, I want to cry out of sheer frustration.

Where are all my mates? Where have they gone?

Heh. I've just been sucked into another RP site, courtesy of Jessa.

Guess I'll be busy in the long haul, racking my creative juices :p

Monday, December 20, 2004

Uh huh. Jessa's told me she's been reading my blog from like, way back.

Damn.

And she tells me a gal from OC i'll call Mos, also knows of this blog too.

Double damn.

And she says that when i search "boey kim cheng" on yahoo, i'm no. 10 on the list.

Triple damn.

No wonder I nearly got into trouble the last time. I mean, sure, blogs are meant for public consumption, but when you think about it......it IS really scary, isn't it? Who's reading your blog? You never know.
This is a damned nice quiz:

Heh.

Was talking to a gal in OC i'll call Jessa for now......check out her blog on the right.

Quite a meaningful conversation, but as it's still going on as i typed this.......hush :p
It really just sucks right now.

No. Not because I'm busy. But rather, because i have at once too much, and too little, time on my hands.

Ever since I came back from Korea, I realized that I have had jack shit to do. All of those people I consider friends have become all but unreachable......at a time when I am most thirsting for company. It's almost unbearable, as if the ten days stuck in Korea isn't enough, I'm STILL stuck at home, facing my parents every fucking day, while they're out there, forgetting about me.

It just sucks. It does. Right now, all I'm doing is blowing through Robert Ludlum's "The Bourne Supremacy", with an idea to cap his "Bourne" series with "The Bourne Ultimatum" before January 8th. Otherwise, I'm vegging out, and starting from today, i'm taking runs to train up for my NS enlistment, which is on Jan 8.

It just sucks. I have too much time because I don't know what the hell to do with it, and yet too little time because it's only a matter of days before I get locked into Military Prison Camp Singapore.

Someone help me make the last few days of my life as a free man bearable. Please. I'm asking, no, begging for help here.

Saturday, December 18, 2004

Yeah, well, this is about the 3rd day since i came back from Korea. So what have I been doing?

One line: Not very much at all.

Yeah, that's right. Korea is still not snowing at this time of year, which means a whole lot of nothing to do at Korea. It was boring. Nothing much to do at all. The ski resort was made up of artificial snow, and well, I wasn't very good at skiing anyway. There was some nice scenery, sure, but as there was no snow......it wasn't all that great. Mostly shopping, sightseeing......bleh.

Am i glad I'm back in Singapore.

Tonight, or rather last night coupled with this twilight morning, was the best time in my life.

Last night was prom night. Yesterday, I had went to ST's house to meet up with EL and Syl to prepare ourselves for the prom. Then, after much dilly-dallying thanks to the girls, the four of us went together to the Pan Pacific Hotel, where the prom was being held.

The prom itself wasn't much, but what made it special was the fact that it would be probably the last time I would see many of the people who made such an impact on my life. People like D, M, and MS. For others, like EL, ST, and JT, it was what i feel would be the base for a new lifelong friendship built upon acquaintances made in Pioneer.

Afterwards, I went with EL, ST, JJ, JT and RL to Brewerkz, and had liquor there. Strangely enough, i felt nothing at all even after gulping down two mugs in quick succession. As ST and JJ had to leave, the rest of us went to China Black. Yes, poor, friendless me finally had friends to go to a club with for the first time. It was a blast there, an experience unlike any other I've ever seen. And yet, I seemed to be okay within it, even though i had another vodka in there, I wasn't even swayed, and I fitted in well with the atmosphere to my thinking. Which makes me wonder why N was against me going clubbing.

Thus, I danced the night away, the night just before going to Korea. For ten days.

Well. It was still a blast.

Things are just not going very well here.......

Ok, I haven't bought my prom stuff yet. So, I was thinking, maybe I could ask some girl to go shopping with me, since they invariably have better taste than me. But then N blows up at me for reasons I have yet to comprehend......so right now, N and I are in a pretty cold state right now. So I call ST, and she's too busy, and I need to go shopping tomorrow at the very least if i want to be in time for the prom. Then I think about EL......and I found out she'll be in Malaysia til tomorrow.

Fuck. Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck.

At the end of my tether. What do I do now?

Tonight was the Singapore Idol finals. The Rock vs R&B showdown. Taufik Batisah on one corner, Sylvester Sim on the other. This night, Singapore was going to crown its very first Singapore Idol.

Taufik was first, and he gave his well-received rendition of the song he sang for the R&B Spectacular, Stevie Wonder's Superstition. Sly was up next, and he matched Taufik with his rendition of Bon Jovi's It's My Life. Taufik hit back with the Winner's Single of I Dream, the single the winner would record, and Sly impressed with his Asian Pop choice of Jay Chou's Quiet. Finally, while Taufik finished off with Me and Mrs Jones, Sly did himself proud with a note-worthy rendition of I Dream.

All in all, it was a close fight. Very good effort from the both of them, their singing skilles, put together, was so similar in quality, it was as judge Florence Lian said, "I don't envy Singapore's job of choosing their Idol".

And the best phrase spoken in the whole Finale, was from Ken Lim, as usual, to Sly.

"Now you see that dreams can be achieved if you pursue them with a smile."

In the end, the Singapore Idol is........TAUFIK BATISAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good work, Taufik. And to you, Sly. To me, the both of you are our Singapore Idols. You have made us all proud. You have done your part in giving Singapore something to anticipate for 6 months.

And now, it's all over.

No wait, not quite. After all, Taufik and Sly would be back, this time in the music scene for real, wouldn't they?

And next year.......I wouldn't be asking for tickets......cause I won't need them to be there next year :p
