Have i mentioned that i saw D tonight at the play? And it just made things worse?

Everytime i see D, my mood nowadays lift a little, then fall with a huge CRASH. But why is that? It's because D perpetually reminds me of one fact in my life i have never been able to exorcise: the fact that i have totally wasted my youth. Think about it........everytime i see her, she always has many friends around her, a group that's unbreakable, a chain of friendship that endures. Then i look around, and everyone's got their own cliques.

And i am left out of the loop. With nothing to my name.

Why do i even endure this? Everyday, i make people laugh with my antics. Now i'm famous college-wide for being me, but it has not helped. I'm no more popular than i was. Nobody cares to talk to me enough. Even N......let's just say that after all is said and done, she still has her own avenue of friends, and i'm really just an afterthought.

Why is this so? Why can't i change what has been my situation since as far back as i can remember? Why does no one ever want to talk to me like a real friend, even as they were saying that i'm "a nice guy deep down"? What is it about me.......that drives everyone away from me? Is this how i'm fated to live, to be ignored by everyone in the end?

Maybe it's the beer i'm drinking, but i'm really down right now.

Today was an okay day, i guess. Morning, went to Teacher's Day celebrations at college, then skipped back to BPGHS to meet some old friends. Nothing much there. Then i went to the Dracula play. nice, but forgettable. Oh well.

Well, I watched the Bourne Supremacy today. All i can say is......must watch :)

Saturday, August 28, 2004

Wow, what a freaking cool day.

It all started at 4.15 pm, where i met up N for a day out, or rather, she came late (as is usual with girls) about 15 minutes later. First off, she hadn't had a bite, so it was to Bugis we went, and where she had lunch (or rather half a lunch, because as is quite common with girls nowadays, she pushed half the bowl to me and said she couldn't eat anymore). And then we talked about local politics, or rather, slammed local politics as it is. Heh, N is just such an interesting girl sometimes. And she also has some views in common with me too, so that made for much talk.

Afterwards, we went to this oh so cool cafe, and that's where i had my first taste of vodka (of course, i wasn't crazy enough to try the full-blown thing), and well, nothing too bad, i wasn't even feeling anything at all. Too bad i'll probably make myself broke if i dared to order another, which i didn't. Anyway, it's such a damned cool cafe, with posters of all sorts of music, and movies, and so much antique stuff around, although of course the novelty factor dropped a little when i saw they had a poster, of all people, F4. I mean, WTF? That's just outta place.

Then we went to the Esplanade (or EsplaNARRRD, or whatever shit), and there we attended a gig of the band Serenaide. All i can say is, whoa. I never thought local music flourished, or as N put it so nicely, even existed. And well, it's not bad listening too. Too bad most of it is underground, so i'll probably have no idea whatsoever where to get their songs. Still, it's still good. Maybe there's hope for local music after all.

What next? Well, N brought me to a place, and i pretty much got lost as to where i am, except i know that it's near the Continental, and is also probably a good make-out place (Note to self: must remember the place), and no, we didn't make out there. What the fuck were you guys thinking? Anyway, we talked some more, or rather, she gushed about Sh.....let's just call him N2 for now, and FZ. Sorry N :p

Finally, we capped it all off by walking to Raffles MRT through Boat Quay, and wow, what a sight i saw there. Lights here there everywhere, whites here there everywhere too, and alfresco dining everywhere you look. I really should get out more often.

Well, that's it. N was looking so bushed in the train. Poor girl. Ah well...........

Ok, I'm currently in the market for a blog makeover. N has siad she would help me with adding a background music, but now i'm also considering getting a whole new template too, to suit the music. Anybody interested in helping? I'm looking for a template which would go very nicely with Evanescene's "My Immortal", so any tips? Please tag them in the tagboard. Thanks, all.

Thursday, August 26, 2004

Ok, now they're having a Adsense program for bloggers? Sure it's good money and all, but i know how much it's a freaking big turn-off for people. I sure don't need them getting pissed because a popup just appeared when they come here.

No thanks. I'll tell you when i change my mind.

I've just been hanging about other people's blogs again, after i've done my stuff. It's been a while since i last went snooping around, and one thing i realized was that amongst the blogs i know, practically only i am the one left who's still blogging regularly.

Shit. What does this mean?

Wednesday, August 25, 2004

My best killer one-liner yet, said to TC after she would not stop bugging me about something, and after i've looked her up and down to multiply the effect:

"Where is that damned 'off' switch?"

Sunday, August 22, 2004

These are some of my all-time favourite songs. They may not seem like much to some, but hey, to each his own, right? These are not in order of preference.

Walking Away (by Craig David)

"I'm walking away....from the troubles in my life, I'm walking away, heeeey, oooh to find a better day....."

This is basically my life story as it is. I like it because it's basically what i wish to do someday. Just walk away from all the troubles in my life. How i wish i can do that, but i can't. Someday.......

My Immortal (by Evanescence)

"When you cried I wiped away all of your tears, when you screamed I fight away all of your fears....."

This must be one of the best break-up songs i've ever heard. This just has so much soul put into it.

Never Had A Dream Come True (by S Club 7)

"I never had a dream come true, til the day that I found you, even though that i pretend that i moved on, you'll always be, my baby....."

When i was younger, yeah, i used to like S Club 7 a lot. Pretty wimpish huh? Now i'm kinda ashamed to say that this is true......but well, this is the song that'll always remain an all-time favourite with me. I can't explain why......maybe it's the emotions in the song.

Everybody Hurts (by The Corrs)

"Everybody hurts........oh......everybody cries......sometimes......everybody hurts.....sometimes....."

This is one song i always gravitate to when i'm feeling low. Quite a therapeutic treatment, it's just so damned nice and soothing when you're really hurting deep inside. I like the Corrs a lot, even though I don't really know all their songs, and this is one that really moves me. Another all-time fave.

Rebel Heart (by The Corrs, instrumental)

This is an instrumental piece, so no lyrics. However, the Corrs may write good songs, but they are real geniuses when they don't sing at all, or keep it to a minimum, and let their instruments sing for them. I only know of 3, including this, Lough Erin Shore, and the recently released Silver Strand, but of the 3, i like this the best. Such pieces give meaning to the phrase "music as art".

Graduation (Friends Forever) (by Vitamin C)

"As we go on, we remember, all the times we, had together....."

Not the best sounding song, not the best singer, but oh so full of meaning for people in my age group. This song inspired "The Story Ends Here", just so you know. What will we be like, years later, when we have left school for a while now? This is a really good song, not because it's vocally good (it's not), but because it holds so much meaning.

A Moment Like This (by Kelly Clarkson)

"For a moment like this, some people wait a lifetime, for a moment like this, some people search forever......"

This may be a song about love, but it suits the American Idol theme of hope just fine. It's a song of love, of hope, what more can you ask for? I might forget it sooner or later, but for now, it makes it on the list.

I Believe I Can Fly (by R Kelly)

"I believe I can fly......I believe I can touch the sky......I think about it every night and day.....spread my wings and fly away......"

Another song about hope. The sky's the limit, the goal we should all aim for, and this song encapsulates it nicely. If i ever get to audition for Singapore Idol, or reach the final even, this is the song i would choose.

Don't Wanna Miss A Thing (By Aerosmith)

"I don't wanna close my eyes.....I don't wanna fall asleep 'cause I miss you babe, and I don't wanna miss a thing....."

I don't usually go in for heavy rock music, but this one just blows me off my feet. The fact that it is about love may have something to do with it, but the emotions are all there, even if they are a bit rough on the edges. Emotion. That's what it's all about.

Crash And Burn (by Savage Garden)

"Let me be the one you call, if you jump I'll break your fall, lift you up and fly away with you into the night......If you need to fall apart, I can mend your broken heart, if you need to crash then crash and burn you're not alone......"

Another song that's seriously full of meaning for me. This is what life should be about, isn't it? This is one song i would like to live.

Well, there you have it, all i can remember for now.

Ah well. The Prelims are just looming nearer and nearer.

What can i say?

Wednesday, August 18, 2004

I don't believe it. I was prepared as thoroughly as i could for the Lit test today. And what happened? Due to popular vote, they fucking postponed it! Dammit! What the fuck were they thinking?

Argh. I'm losing it. Argh.

It's been a tiring 2 days. I'm bushed every time i come back from the Night Study. And worse of all, it's not been helping me too much, or so i think.

WTF. What do i do now?

Anyway, I'm seriously thinking of adding some background music to this blog. Only thing is, how do i go about doing that? Anyone wanna give some help here? Leave a tag on the blog. Thanks.

And Singapore Idol........lol. All i can say is, it's been as entertaining as American Idol so far. Let's see what happens. Hopefully Singapore Idol would do an American Idol Season 2, instead of a Season 3.

It seems like things are not going too well on any side. School people are getting tense. Family are getting tense. Everyone's going nuts. And i'm the only one able to keep cool, it seems.

Well, if that's my role in life, so be it. I'll just have to continue being the fool (along with GL, it seems), and give everyone something to laugh at, to make their day lighter. It may get hard sometimes, but well, what else can i be? If i try to be anyone else, it'll no longer be me, right? So there, that's what i have to do.

Existentialism. Sometimes it's good only for making your head spin.

Things are at a crossroads. On one path, lies the road i must endure to the 'A' Levels. It looks just like the road to the Mountain of Fire, dragging along the One Ring. On another, lies people i know, and the emotions i have to resolve......or fight through. On yet another, i have to survive the trials my family is throwing at me. It's too much to take, and there's no one who can really listen.

I've been the one doing all the listening, the one making the most fun of myself, the one who tries his best to make everyone laugh at him, so he can laugh at himself, and make his own life seem that much better.

But it's not working too well, isn't it?

The piano. To me, the ultimate expression of being. The one thing of my life that is a constant in the rapidly changing world i live in. The one thing that my life revolves around, without fail, without change. Friends come to you for a little while, then they vanish in the mists of time, irretrievable "as the poems i have forgotten to write" (Boey Kim Cheng). Teachers teach, then they are gone. Mentors come, and they go. All that is left are photos, and a failing memory of days past. But the piano, to me, is the pillar of support that makes my life bearable. It is something that endures.

As far back as i remember, the piano was there, always my friend, always my mentor, always my teacher, always my muse. Long and hard effort i have spent perfecting the quirks of its personality, likely to the detriment of my social skills, but now it is part of me. It is the shield behind which i hide from the worst of life, playing out my woes and sorrows in music that is the voice with which i implored of life "what despairing words couldn't convey". When no one would give me the benefit of their company, it was always there, it was always ready to listen, and it offered no words, but a strain of emotion flowing from my fingertips, passing through the ivory keys, translated in its body to the sound of emotions no one but me can understand, a whirl of inner feelings translated into the world by music what could never be fully understood in words.

And yet, it is the medium through which i lived out my life truly richly. Through the piano, passion, despair, depression, euphoria, all in the powerful strain of the melody, contrasted with the underlying foundations of the harmony, to create a perfect picture of life that rivals life itself. The piano was truly my friend, and it still is, for it offers no useless advice, gives no unwanted admonitions, preaches no ideology, does nothing, except reflect to me my skill, my passion, my personality. Every song, written by others, but through me, and through the piano, my interpretation, my character, passes through to music that tells the story of me as a person, as human, as a being.

The ultimate expression of being. That is why the piano is my one treasure, greater than any relationship i could ever form with a human being, for now.

Hey, to anyone reading this, let's play a game. It goes like this. Think of something that's important to your life. It must not be a person. It must be an object. And it must be at least your personal treasure, something so treasured that you will not give up for all the money in the world. Talk about why it is so important to you, and why it is part of the philosophy of your life. I'll start first for everyone, then when you read this, write your own philosophy of your personal treasure on your own blog, then tag on my tagboard to let me know. Finally, ask the readers of your own blog to do the same, and tag on yours. Let's see how far this stretches.

A few more people:

M: This great lumbering mass of a guy, who looks like a boor, acts like a boor, plays like a boor, yet is an intellectual with an open mind.
FZ: N's main pillar of support, 70% nice guy, 30% bad boy.

.................who else...................

Actually, i think that's all the people i ever talk to, and D's not even included.

What a sad life.

YEEEESSSSSS!!!!! YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!! THE CONNECTION PROBLEM IS NOW RESOLVED!!!!!!!! IT'S BUSINESS AS USUAL NOW!!!!!!! YEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Ahem.

Thursday, August 12, 2004

It's been a real strange 2 days. People i'm close to have been taking a few knocks from life recently. I shall not even name who they are, for it appears that even my code is not stopping people from guessing, and worse of all, getting pretty close. Anyway, it just really opens my eye to what the darker side of life is all about, stripping away what remains of any rose-tinted vision i might have of the world.

Ah crap. I don't think i wanna talk anymore about this.

Well, i've put my weekend poems up on the poetry page. Including a winner from days past. Ok, i have nothing more to say then.

Tuesday, August 10, 2004

Horrible, just horrible. The connection problem just isn't getting itself resolved. At at a long weekend of 5 days, it's just horrible, having to get out every scrap of time i can from other places. Horrible. Just horrible.

Well, i wrote 5 poems over the weekend, and i'll put them up soon as i may. Also, i went to the NDP Monday, and all i can say is, what's the big deal? Ok, it may seem a big deal to the performers, but it sure ain't a big deal to me.

Ah well. I'm praying this problem gets resolved soon.

A few more people in my life right now:

AG: A pretty enough girl who's a Christian, and well, learning the art of sharp-tonguedness from JA. Still a nice enough girl though, and dare i say it, easily bullied :p . A classmate.

JT & YT: The class "twins", who are rarely seen seperated from each other.

PP: The lead in the musical, and a pretty nice guy.

MS: One of the female leads in the musical, and like PP, a very nice person, although doesn't talk much.

XW: A girl who gushes over the Korean weep drama sings i've been playing recently. J1.

N has truly become like a sister to me, a sister i've always wanted. We share things together, like i've never had before. Sure she is a little on the wild side, but then, very few people in the world never has and never wants to be wild once in a while at least. Besides, that's not important. What's important is that she talks with me, shares her life with me, and most importantly, trusts me wholeheartedly. That's something no one has ever done before, and i'm grateful for it.

Tuesday, August 03, 2004

Looks like the connection is gone til Saturday. Fuck it.

Yesterday was real good. I've seemed to have found someone i could really talk to in N. She was pissed yesterday, so we had a long talk, and it seems like, i've found the person in the world i can be honest with finally, after so long. Not even AL (my alumni from BPGHS) managed to do as much as N did for me last night. It was a milestone for me, to know i'm not alone, that there's someone who can understand what i say when i bother to say it with intelligence.

I'm not alone anymore.

Monday, August 02, 2004

Gah. The connection's still not good yet. What's worse is that it doesn't look like being okay for a while.

Dammit.
Well, it's been a horrible weekend for me, because for the last few days, my connection to the Internet got cut, no thanks to what is probably a massive fuckup by Singnet. The result? I'm blogging this from school now, 2 and a half days after my last session.

Fuck Singnet.

So.....i had to go cold turkey for the weekend. What did i do? I decided this time instead to watch a few episodes of the Korean weep drama Autumn In My Heart, or what i think it is supposed to be, since the cover read Endless Love instead. Well, i realised that i've inherited a romantic nature from my mother, since i almost came close to crying at the tragedy. Oh well.
